Expansion side Inter Miami have built a diverse roster of MLS veterans, young talent, and international stars. Chicago is essentially an expansion team with a new roster, new coach, and new stadium. Pre-Season Previews Pt. 8 – Toronto FC, LA Galaxy

Hey, soccer fans! Welcome back to The Sons of a Pitch: An American Soccer Podcast. In this episode, we keep on previewing the teams of Major League Soccer (MLS) as we approach the 2020 season. Tonight we take a look at two teams with trophy aspirations: Toronto FC and the LA Galaxy.

To preview TFC, we bring in an expert on all things Canadian soccer, Duane Rollins of The Sports Podcasting Network. Tune in for his takes on the roster moves, Designated Players (DPs), and the likelihood of a trophy. If the players stay healthy and play to their potential, don’t be surprised if Toronto lifts another MLS Cup.

Moving on to the Western Conference, Nick and Mike break down all things LA Galaxy. With the signing of Chicharito, the Galaxy have maybe the best DP roster in the league. Can Chicharito, Pavon, and dos Santos power the Galaxy to their former glory? They are definitely a favorite to win the Cup.

Pre-Season Previews Pt. 7 – Vancouver, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia

Hey, soccer fans! Welcome back to another episode of The Sons of a Pitch: An American Soccer Podcast. We are continuing our 2020 pre-season team previews with in-depth analysis of the Vancouver Whitecaps, FC Cincinnati, and the Philadelphia Union.

Vancouver Whitecaps

Whitecaps expert Alexandre Gangue-Ruzic, Editor-in-Chief of Between the Sticks, joins our show in a specials pre-season preview. Along with our hosts, Alexandre details the Vancouver roster, tactics, and predicts a vastly improved team in 2020. Be sure to check out all his coverage of the team, and let us know if you agree with the optimism.

FC Cincinnati

There’s nowhere to go but up, right? After a historically bad expansion season, FC Cincy turned over their coaching and their roster. Can they take a team that looks respectable on paper and turn it into results on the pitch? Tune in for all of Nick and Mike’s takes on this Eastern Conference squad.

Philadelphia Union

What does Philly and DOOP Nation do after the most successful season in team history? If everything goes right, they repeat their success and add a long playoff run. Nick and Mike think the Union will be competitive, but not a threat to win the conference. Let us know if you disagree in the comments or on social media.

Team Previews Pt. 6 – Atlanta United, Seattle Sounds, and the MLS CBA

Hello, soccer fans! The Sons of a Pitch: An American Soccer Podcast are back with more team previews. In this episode, our hosts examine two powerhouses of Major League Soccer: Atlanta United and the Seattle Sounders. In each preview, Nick and Mike review the roster (who’s in/who’s out), analyze the Designated Players (DPs), and pick a young player to have a break out season. They conclude each preview with projected starting lineups and predict the ceiling and floor for each team.

Atlanta Untied look to compete for more trophies and have the talent to do so. Could they become the first MLS team to win Concacaf Champions League? Could they match Toronto’s record setting 2016 season? Or will they fall flat and come up empty handed? Tune in to find out.

Meanwhile in the Pacific Northwest, the Seattle Sounders again have a roster built to compete for an MLS Cup. They are experienced, well-coached, and look to be transitioning to a more attacking mindset. If their defense can play at an average level, look for the Sounders to once again be near the top of the Western Conference.
